"In Mali, where I was born, greeting someone means asking: Are you feeling well? That question has shaped everything about how I practice medicine."
Dr. Diarra is a board-certified internist and obesity medicine physician practicing in Tigard, Oregon — with a clinical background that spans biomedical engineering, internal medicine residency training, and over a decade of primary care experience. He founded MyOne PCP after leaving a conventional practice model that left him unable to provide the depth of care his patients deserved.

Dr. Diarra was born and raised in Mali, West Africa — a place where healthcare is personal, where neighbors know your name, and where a greeting is literally a question about your health. He left Mali to study, eventually earning a Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Engineering from Arizona State University, before going on to medical school at the Arizona College of Osteopathic Medicine.
"My background in biomedical engineering means I approach medicine differently — I think in systems, in mechanisms, in how things interact. That lens makes me a better diagnostician and a more innovative physician."
He completed his internal medicine internship and residency at Legacy Graduate Medical Education in Portland, Oregon — finishing his training with the Resident of the Year Award and board certification from the American Board of Internal Medicine in 2015. Portland became home. Dr. Diarra has lived in the Pacific Northwest ever since, immersed in its culture, its trails, its communities, and its patients.
In 2023 he was named a Fellow of the American College of Physicians, and in 2024 he was appointed Co-Chair of the DEI and Membership Committee of the Oregon Chapter of the ACP. In 2025, he earned his Diplomate of the American Board of Obesity Medicine — completing his dual board certification and formalizing what had long been a central focus of his clinical practice.
After more than a decade in traditional primary care, Dr. Diarra left. Not because of burnout — but because the system was failing the patients he cared deeply about.
Private insurers prioritize profit over patient care. Government-sponsored plans are chronically underfunded, leading to rationed care and seven-minute appointments. Increasing administrative burden was pulling physicians further from the work they trained to do. The result is a healthcare system that consistently fails the people it exists to serve.
Dr. Diarra founded MyOne PCP as a direct response — a practice built on a different model, one that makes personalized, high-quality, and genuinely patient-centered medicine possible again. Every design decision in this practice reflects that commitment.
Dr. Diarra grew up in Mali, lived in Europe, and built his medical career in the Pacific Northwest — a journey across three continents that shaped not only who he is but how he sees patients. He speaks English, French, and Mandinka fluently, bringing a multicultural perspective to every clinical encounter.
Dr. Diarra lives in the Pacific Northwest with his wife, their three daughters, and the family cat, Jax. He is deeply embedded in his community — both as a physician and as a neighbor, father, and coach.
